Playwright Winter Miller visited TimeLine over the weekend! She saw the show (twice), hung out with cast members, took part in “A Conversation with Winter Miller” (led by Steppenwolf Theatre’s Director of Artistic Development Polly Carl) and stayed for a post-show discussion after Sunday’s performance before we reluctantly said goodbye. There are photos from her visit below, and while you look at those we hope you’ll take 5 minutes to listen to Winter’s closing remarks during the conversation with Polly. In this audio clip, Winter tells the story of a 16-year-old girl she met in Uganda and how she witnessed a profound change in this young woman through the transformative power of theatre.
Is it possible that the arts are really important? Is it possible that you could not have enough food, not have shelter, not have medical care, but you could still be sustained by whatever that spirit or hope is inside of you? — Winter Miller
