Back to Our Future: Audience Participation
Be a part of TimeLine’s biggest fundraising event of the year!
On March 12, 2021 TimeLine will present our first-ever virtual gala—Step Into TimeLine: Back To Our Future. It’ll be a celebration of all things TimeLine, looking back at the past 24 years of our work and forward to many more.
Alongside watching and supporting the event (learn more and make your reservation via link in sidebar), there are several ways for YOU to supercharge your event experience and be a part of the evening’s program!

Instructions for everything (and links to our submission form) are outlined below! You can submit for any, or all—whatever you prefer! But we hope you will participate. We can’t do it without you!

INSTRUCTIONS: MUSIC SING-A-LONG
WHAT DO I TAPE?
- Please click here for a karaoke version of Here Comes the Sun. We’d like a video of you singing and/or dancing (or even just lip syncing!) to any portion or all of the song! Even if you actually sing only the “Do do do do”s, or the song’s chorus—or spend 30 seconds dancing around—that can work great! The lyrics appear on screen along with the music track.
- Please know: It doesn’t have to be perfect, since your video will be edited into small pieces that we will use. Here’s an example of the style of video we are creating.
- Please wear headphones or ear buds as you sing or listen along, so that all we see/hear on the video is you and your voice (a cappella).
- If you aren’t so familiar with the song, there are versions of the original Beatles’ song online, like here.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
- You can sing along, dance along, sign along—whatever you feel showcases your personality.
- Have a partner or roommate who wants to join? That’s great!
- Have a musical instrument or an adorable puppy or an inanimate prop that should make an appearance? Let’s see ’em!
- Have a choreographed dance to this song? Show us your moves!
- Most importantly, have fun and be yourself!
HOW DO I FILM MY VIDEO?
- If you are using a smartphone, please film with your phone horizontally, as seen in this photo:
- We want to see you showcase your personality and individual style, so feel free to record this video wherever you’d like—in your garden, on a treadmill, on your balcony outside—you get the idea!
- Please do your best to have good quality lighting and little background noise so we can see and hear you clearly.
- You can record your video using a computer, tablet, video camera, or smartphone.

- Please use our Back to Our Future Submission Form to upload and send your video file to us. NOTE: You will need to be signed in to a Google account to upload via this method.
- Another option to upload and send your video file is to use WeTransfer — it’s free and easy to use! Via WeTransfer, videos should be sent to info@timelinetheatre.com. Watch this WeTransfer tutorial if you need some extra help.

WHAT DO I TAPE?
- We want to hear what you love most about TimeLine! Please record yourself answering one of the following questions:
- Why do you love TimeLine? Why is TimeLine an experience you like to come back to? Why do you engage with TimeLine?
- What do you appreciate most when reflecting on your TimeLine experiences? What do you look forward to returning to?
- We’d also love to have you share a single word that describes TimeLine for you.
- Due to time constraints (we want to include as many contributions as possible), your answers should be very short—try to keep them to between 10-15 seconds in length, total.
- Writing out what you want to say in advance can help—approximately 25-40 words is great!

- We only need to see your face and shoulders in the frame.
- Please do your best to have good quality lighting and little background noise so we can see and hear you clearly.
- You can record your video using a computer, tablet, video camera, or smartphone.

- We welcome written contributions! You can use the Back to Our Future Submission Form to submit your answer in writing.

- We’d love to see a photo of you (on your own or with friends and family) at a TimeLine performance or event! Did you take a picture in our lobby or while interacting with part of a lobby exhibit? Pose with friends outside under the TimeLine sign in our courtyard? Raise a glass at a party or event? Please share!
