John is Dean of The Theatre School at DePaul University, the alma mater of TimeLine’s six founding Company Members.  He is an Associate Artist at TimeLine, where he has designed JUNO and THE FARNSWORTH INVENTION. Since TimeLine’s earliest days, he has enjoyed the company’s smart, passionate productions with the conviction that understanding the past helps us create the future.

In Chicago, John has designed scenery and/or lighting for the Buckingham Fountain, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Writers, Goodman, Northlight, Lookingglass, Garfield Conservatory, Field Museum of Natural History, Drury Lane, Victory Gardens, Chicago Children’s Theatre, Chicago Opera Theatre and more than thirty productions at Court Theatre.

He has received Jeff Award’s for the lighting for THE ILLUSION (Court) and for MIRROR OF THE INVISIBLE WORLD (Goodman). Recent Chicago productions include, SATCHMO AT THE WALDORF and IPHIGENIA AT AULIS (Court), ARCADIA (Writers), WHITE GUY ON THE BUS (Northlight) and TWO TRAINS RUNNING (Goodman). John has also designed scenery and/or lighting for the Boston Lyric Opera, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Singapore Rep, Berkeley Rep, Shakespeare Theatre and the McCarter Theatre.

A native of Athens, Ohio, John earning a BGS degree at Ohio University in Math, Physics and Theatre. He went on to pursue an MFA degree in Set and Lighting Design at New York University.
