Kristin Larsen
Interim Director of Development
Kristin Larsen has 30+ years of experience in the administration of nonprofit and commercial cultural agencies that supported the arts through presentation, production, organizational stabilization, and technical assistance.
Kristin was most recently the Executive Director of Arts & Business Council of Chicago, a capacity-building service organization focused on supporting Chicago’s cultural workers and creative enterprises through consulting, programming, and professional development. In her role, Kristin drove the activation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion across the organization, including a vision refresh which spurred the 77 Community Initiative (77CI) – a realignment of A&BC’s resources to prioritize supporting creative enterprises in historically divested communities. In 2023/24, Kristin engineered the acquisition of A&BC’s programs by Lawyers for the Creative Arts.
Kristin was the Executive Director of Remy Bumppo Theatre Company between 2002-2012 and the Executive Director of Stage 773 between 2013 and 2017. She has been a business representative with Actors’ Equity Association, the union that represents Actors and Stage Managers nationwide, the operations manager of Facets Multimedia, a premier film presenter and supplier of hard-to-find and independent films and a stage manager, company manager, and production manager in Chicago, regionally and off-Broadway for various theatres and dance companies.
Kristin currently serves as a Community Advisory Council Member for the City of Chicago’s “The 78″- a 62-acre mixed-use project along the riverfront adjacent to Chinatown, on the Private Sector Council of Americans for the Arts (advocacy), the Central Regional Advisory Council of The Entertainment Community Fund (human services) the Joseph Jefferson Committee’s Artist/Technical Team (awards & honors), and is an active member of the Unitarian Church of Evanston (religion & social justice).
Kristin has taught at Columbia College and regularly presents on arts management, especially on topics pertaining to finance, board development and governance, and organizational development and stabilization and holds a BFA degree in production management from The Theatre School, DePaul University and a MA degree in facilitating organizational effectiveness in the arts from DePaul University’s School for New Learning.
