We are in the last week of Not Enough Air, and what was such an exciting and rewarding experience is soon to be “old news.” Rehearsals have begun for The History Boys, we are in the throes of selecting the 2009-10 season, and time is taking us all in different directions.

For myself, I am mourning the fact that this my last week with this incredible ensemble!!! Mechelle, Danica, David, Terry and Zack … the best ensemble both sides of the Mississippi!

Not Enough Air has been an incredible ride and an experience like no other. Since this is a brand new play — and is really our creation — it will be difficult to step away. The sense of ownership is so strong compared to playing a role that numbers of other actresses have played through the years.

I’m so lucky to be where I am, getting to do what I do, working with such incredibly talented artists, for some of the smartest and most vital theatre audiences. I’m hoping for full houses this week. I want to share this play with as many people as possible.

But in the meantime, since I’m hosting the closing-night cast party at my home, I really need to get back to cleaning!

Saw it a second time with a friend (a theater nut like me) who read the Backstory before seeing it but was unfamiliar with Machinal. She said she followed all the nuances, but didn’t know the ending was scene from Machinal. I especially found the relationship between David as McGeehan (aka Mr. Treadwell) and you as Sophie very touching, there was love. And yes, a great ensemble and thoughtful directing. Zack Kenney,a name new to me, a strong actor for someone so young.
