TimeLine is thrilled to unveil a new visual identity—a change that is “Made for the Moment” and our first brand refresh in more than 25 years! And it was well worth the wait.
“Made for the Moment” honors the past. But it also makes a bold statement about the present by recognizing TimeLine’s exciting next chapter—establishing a permanent home designed to elevate our artistic vision and deepen our community impact.

The attention-grabbing logo, anchored by a new logo mark based on the simple geometry of the letters T and L, acts as a powerful framing device—a window into each production to reveal the heart and soul of every story. The emphasis on discovery and reflection mirrors TimeLine’s long-standing mission: to explore the social and political issues of today through the lens of the past, and to be inspired to create a more vibrant, equitable tomorrow.
Textures and brush strokes add dimension and movement, echoing elements of our previous logo and embracing imperfection as a feature rather than a flaw. These gestures reinforce the notion that TimeLine is constantly evolving and collaborating to create a bigger picture. Cutouts also appear throughout the visual identity to encourage exploration and intimacy—much like the theatre itself.
I almost feel it IS a timeline and you’re between the past and the future … the left nods to the past, the right is pointing to the future, and I’m in the middle, in the present, in my seat, in the theatre, ready to go on a journey. — TimeLine Donor
Color plays a key role in “Made for the Moment,” with purple taking the lead. It’s approachable and vibrant, highlighting the creativity, collaboration, and magic that we work to bring to every production. Secondary hues, including orange, greens, red, and yellow, round out the palette, nodding to the past but focusing on the future with a sense of renewal and energy.
Photography continues to make a statement, highlighting images that move seamlessly between dramatic, intimate, clean, and inviting. The photos capture both the gravity of the stories we tell and the warmth of our community—connecting with people in ways that words simply cannot.
What makes this brand truly shine, however, is its timing. We’re thrilled to debut our new look alongside a major shift for this company—from a small but growing theatre to an emerging Chicago institution with a new permanent home celebrating its grand opening this spring. Our new identity rises to meet the occasion, even while we hold on to the humility and sense of belonging that have defined TimeLine for decades.
In the end, “Made for the Moment” isn’t just a rebrand. It’s a thoughtful production that positions TimeLine Theatre for the future. Like our mission, it challenges you to see things in a new way, to look further, and to reflect on the experience. Like any memorable show, we hope “Made for the Moment” changes your perspective and leaves you eager to join TimeLine on our next, exciting journey.![]()
