La Donna L. Forsgren is an Associate Professor in the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre; concurrent faculty in the Gender Studies Program; and affiliate faculty in the Department of Africana Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She currently serves as Vice President/Conference Planner for the Mid-America Theatre Conference.

Her published books include In Search of Our Warrior Mothers: Women Dramatists of the Black Arts Movement and Sistuhs in the Struggle: An Oral History of the Black Arts Movement Theatre and Performance. She has contributed articles in journals such as Theatre Survey, Theatre Topics, Continuum, and Callaloo, as well as book chapters in The Routledge Companion to African American Theatre and Performance, Teaching Critical Performance Theory in Today’s Theatre Classroom, Studio, and CommunitiesThe Great North American Stage Directors, and Women’s Theatre Theory and Dramatic Criticism. Her current book project explores queer black feminist spectatorship in contemporary musical theatre.

La Donna holds a B.A. degree from Western Oregon University, an M.A. degree from Brigham Young University, and a Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University.
