We recognize that TimeLine Theatre sits on the native land of the people of the Council of Three Fires, including the Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Odawa. Although for over 200 years Native Nations have been forcibly removed from this territory, we must acknowledge that this land continues to be a site of gathering and healing for more than a dozen other Tribal Nations and remains home to over 100,000 tribal members in the state of Illinois. Additionally, settler colonialism is embedded in the technologies, structures and ways of thinking we use every day. We are using equipment and high-speed internet not available in many indigenous communities. Even the technologies central to making theatre leave significant carbon footprints, changing climates, disproportionately affecting indigenous peoples worldwide. As we gather, we contribute our work and art as a form of collaboration in the healing of this land.
