Anish is proud to be an Associate Artist with TimeLine as of 2017. He has appeared in TimeLine’s productions of BLOOD & GIFTS, INANA, A DISAPPEARING NUMBER and the upcoming IN THE NEXT ROOM, OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY.
My first TimeLine show was seeing the terrific Not About Nightingales in 2000. From that moment of seeing a production that was bursting at the seams with power, creativity and imagination, I knew this company was very special. The ability for TimeLine to bring a focused intimacy to all of their productions without sacrificing value or precise historic detail makes them unique in the Chicago theatre scene.
Some of his Chicago acting stage credits include WIT and ten seasons of A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Goodman); WATER BY THE SPOONFUL, TITUS ANDRONICUS, MARY STUART, THE INVENTION OF LOVE, and LIFE’S A DREAM (Court); ROMEO & JULIET (Chicago Shakespeare); HOMELAND SECURITY (Victory Gardens); BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO, AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS and SITA RAM (Lookingglass); THE CARETAKER and TO THE GREEN FIELDS BEYOND (Writers); CITIZENS OF THE WORLD (Steppenwolf); GREAT EXPECTATIONS (Remy Bumppo and Silk Road Rising); THE ROOM (Red Orchid); THE MAN WHO MURDERED SHERLOCK HOLMES (Mercury);OMNIUM GATHERUM, THE MILLIONAIRESS, RETURN TO HAIFA (Next); TWELFTH NIGHT (First Folio); INDIAN INK and THE SIGN OF THE FOUR (Apple Tree); MERCHANT ON VENICE (Silk Road Rising) and THE AGE OF CYNICISM (Chicago Dramatists). Regionally, he appeared in HENRY VIII and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Oregon Shakespeare Festival).
As someone who has for a long time had a deep passion for history, I have been and continue to be very curious of what we can learn from the stories of our past, where our imagination lies in crafting those stories from multiple points of view and how we can apply those experiences towards the challenging conversations that we are having today about our world and our society.
Some of his directing credits include THE CROWD YOU’RE IN WITH (16th Street Theatre); JESUS HOPPED THE ‘A’ TRAIN, ONE FLEA SPARE, BLUE SURGE, SPINNING INTO BUTTER (Eclipse Theatre); and THE MASRAYANA (Rasaka Theatre). He is also the former Artistic Director of Eclipse Theatre Company and Rasaka Theatre Company in addition to serving the board of The League of Chicago Theatres.
Film credits include BATMAN V. SUPERMAN. Television credits include CHICAGO MED, APB, BOSS, LEVERAGE and EARLY EDITION. Anish holds a BA degree in Theatre from Loyola University of Chicago and is a graduate of The Oxford School of Drama.
