Deborah Cohen is the Richard W. Leopold Professor of History at Northwestern University. Her research areas are modern European history and global history. Her most recent book is Last Call at the Hotel Imperial, which won the Emerson Award, the Goldsmith Prize, and the Mark Lynton History Prize, and was named a book of the year by NPR, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and Booklist. She writes regularly for The Atlantic on subjects ranging from punk rock to World War I photography.
