After making an off-hand remark in class about the origin of the universe, she is confronted by a student offended by what he feels is inappropriate commentary on his beliefs. As a firestorm of controversy engulfs the town, How the World Beganexplores faith, grief, fear and the chasms that divide our country.

From acclaimed playwright Keith Reddin comes this fascinating new play never before seen. Spanning 1946-1984, Some Brighter Distance is based on a true story of a German scientist brought to America at the end of World War II to be an instrumental player in developing the rocket that would take us to the moon. Years later, the U.S. government, which once had brought this scientist here for its own gain, now seeks to completely disassociate with him, digging up issues from the past and accusing him of horrible atrocities during the war.
