Josephine Kearns (she/her) is a Dramaturg and Gender Consultant specializing in queer, trans, and intersex identities. She has worked with theatres across the U.S. and Canada, including MCC, The Perelman Center, Seattle Rep, Delaware Theatre Company, Kansas City Rep, Royal Manitoba Theatre, Fifth Ave. Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and Shaw Festival Theatre, and in a creative role on development projects with Rachel Chavkin, Bill Rauch, Omari Wiles, Kit Yan & Melissa Li, Lauren Patten, and the Bengsons, among others. She regularly facilitates in-depth trainings on gender inclusivity, drawing on her experiences as a Program Coordinator for the gender program at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago as well as a lifetime in theatre. She is also the gender consultant for Actors’ Equity Association and the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA).

Professionally Josie grew up at TimeLine, starting out as stage manager on TESLA’S LETTERS in 2007. In all she has worked on 28 productions, including as dramaturg and gender consultant for BOY and as staff production manager from 2010-2016.
